Cybersecurity is a comprehensive discipline that combines technical skills, management strategies, and legal regulations. This programme is designed to cultivate professionals with all-round technical capabilities, covering three core pillars: Offensive & Defensive Techniques: You will master Penetration Testing and Vulnerability Assessment to proactively detect and fix system weaknesses. Defence Architecture & Incident Response: Learn to build secure network architectures and apply encryption technologies. You will also be trained in Digital Forensics to manage security incidents and minimise data loss. Infrastructure & Compliance Management: Beyond coding and networking, the curriculum covers operating system management and information security regulations. You will learn how to ensure enterprise IT infrastructure complies with international security standards. What are the career prospects after graduating with a BSc in Cybersecurity? With the Hong Kong Government's implementation of the Protection of Critical Infrastructure (Computer System) Bill, the demand for cybersecurity talent across all sectors is surging. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science and Cybersecurity have vast development opportunities. You can start in technical roles and advance to management positions. Key career paths include: Technical Specialists: Penetration Tester, Security Development Engineer, Digital Forensics Specialist Management & Consultancy: Cybersecurity Product Manager, Incident Manager, Information Security Consultant Education & Training: Information Security Lecturer/Trainer Is this Cybersecurity degree recognised by the Government? How does it differ from other institutions? Absolutely recognised. This programme is accredited at QF Level 5 under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework, the same level as bachelor's degrees offered by the UGC-funded universities. Furthermore, the HKCT Cybersecurity degree is included in the Government's Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme (NMTSS). Eligible local students can receive an annual subsidy of up to HK$35,120 (for the 2026/27 academic year). Can I apply if I didn't study ICT or M1/M2 in DSE? Will I struggle with the coursework? Yes, you can apply. The programme covers the foundations of computer science comprehensively. We start from the ground up—teaching operating systems, secure coding, and network fundamentals—before advancing to cryptography and penetration testing. While students with a background in Science or ICT may have an initial advantage, it is not a prerequisite. As long as you are willing to invest time and make full use of our Cyber Range and Cybersecurity Lab, students from Arts or Commerce backgrounds can master these professional skills just as effectively. What if my DSE results are not ideal (e.g., Chinese/English requirements missed)? You still have a path. If your results do not meet the direct entry requirements for the Bachelor's degree, you can first enrol in the Higher Diploma in Cybersecurity (Testing and Compliance) at HKCT. Upon successful completion of the 2-year Higher Diploma, you can articulate directly into Year 3 of the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science and Cybersecurity . This '2+2' pathway allows you to obtain the same Bachelor's degree in 4 years. Disclaimer Tuition fees and subsidies are to be reviewed and adjusted annually on various factors.
