It aims to give students the flexibility to decide on the final degree in their study. BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering is one of the premier electrical engineering degree programmes in Hong Kong that provides unique and up- to-date education in electrical power and energy. The curriculum is designed to give a balanced treatment of university core requirements, electrical engineering fundamentals, advanced and specialist topics, and non- technical subjects such as management. BEng (Hons) in Transportation Systems Engineering BEng (Hons) in Transportation Systems Engineering is unique in Hong Kong, providing students with interdisciplinary knowledge and perspectives in modern transportation systems and a direct career path into the high- growth transportation industry and related sectors. All admitted students will embark on a Common Year One curriculum. Towards the end of year one, students can decide whether to continue with their initial choice or switch to another choice within the Faculty of Engineering. Those who wish to change to another choice need to join a competitive process through a ranking assessment, which considers a combination of entrance qualification score, Year One GPA, and interview performance. Remarks Remarks Students will gain one of the following awards upon successful completion of the graduation requirements of the programme concerned: BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering 電機工程學(榮譽)工學士 BEng (Hons) in Transportation Systems Engineering 運輸系統工程學 (榮譽)工學士 Students are subject to further assessment criteria to enrol in one of the honours degree programmes during Semester 2 of Year One. This assessment considers students’ preferences, GPA, and interview performance. The option of Secondary Major in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (AIDA) is available to students of BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering. Admission to the Secondary Major is on a competitive basis and subject to a different credit requirement for graduation. Students may pursue a Minor in a different discipline. All information is subject to change without notice. Entry Scholarship Entry Scholarship To give encouragement and recognition to HKDSE students with outstanding academic performance, and to support their studies at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at PolyU provide the Departmental Entry Academic Scholarships for JUPAS applicants*. An attainment at "Attained" in "Citizenship and Social Development" is required for meeting the entrance requirement but NOT included in the admission score calculation. 2 . For HKDSE repeaters who took "Liberal Studies" in 2023/24 or before and have not taken "Citizenship and Social Development" in 2024/25 and thereafter, "Level 2" or above in "Liberal Studies" would be regarded as "Attained" in "Citizenship and Social Development" for fulfilling the general entrance requirement. However, "Liberal Studies" would not be recognized for meeting the elective requirement of the general entrance requirement in 2024/25 and thereafter. The level attainment of the subject would not be included in the admission score calculation. 3 . Individual schemes / programmes will accept one relevant Applied Learning (ApL) subject for meeting the entrance requirements. An attainment at Attained with Distinction (I) level or above / Attained with Distinction (obtained in 2017 or before) is required. 4 . Other Language subjects (i.e. Category C) offered in the HKDSE Examination will be accepted as elective subjects. The following minimum grades or above are required starting from 2026/27. Preferred subjects, if applicable, are listed in the 'Entrance Requirements & Subject Weightings' section of individual scheme / programme entries. Satisfactory performance in preferred subjects will have a positive influence on admission selection. However, applicants who have not taken the preferred subjects will still be considered for admission but they may need to take relevant underpinning subjects after admission to PolyU. 9 . The study places offered by PolyU through JUPAS are intended primarily for admission of local school leavers. Applicants who are studying or have studied a scheme / programme with degree or above level will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 10 . Please note that Category I and Category II applicants are considered under different admission routes and are subject to different tuition fees. Category II applicants seeking admission on the basis of HKDSE results should submit their applications directly to PolyU. Applicants who fall short slightly on the general entrance requirements of our schemes / programmes may be specially considered for admission. Details will be announced in due course. 12 .
