The programme places equal emphasis on practical and theoretical components - it is designed to prepare students for a variety of professions as well as postgraduate studies. The Department is committed to quality teaching and research. International scholars are invited to teach and conduct seminars and workshops for students. Double major and double degree options are offered in conjunction with the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, the Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages, and the Faculty of Law. The Department’s teaching and learning are supported by two language labs equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities, conference interpreting systems and up-to-date software for computer-aided translation.
