It is designed to respond to the increasing mobility of talent and integration of national markets, and to meet the rapidly rising demand for leaders who can negotiate international relations and geopolitics, analyse interconnected worldwide economic and financial linkage, and react to global environmental and health challenges (e.g. climate change, pollution, pandemic). The Programme is designed for students who: are interested in global issues want to equip themselves with a global and cosmopolitan vision want to develop analytical and practical skills to help them think globally and act locally want to prepare themselves for careers with an international orientation There are five elective clusters in the programme: Global Media and Popular Culture Global Economy World Politics Planetary Health Quantitative Methods in Global Studies The programme contains the following major components: Faculty Package Resident study overseas Foreign language courses Student-designed interdisciplinary concentration area Internship Capstone courses GLSD students are trained to work in the public and private sectors, including: Government; Multinational Corporations; Global Organizations; Non-profit Organizations; and Education Institutions. For details, please click here . Note 2 Note 2 : For Liberal Studies (LS) subject taken in 2023 or before, a Level 2 or above will be considered as “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development. The LS level will not be considered in the calculation of admission scores. Note 3 Note 3 : The two subjects may include: (i) 2 elective subjects; or (ii) 1 elective subject and Mathematics (Extended Part) Module I or Module II or Other Language subjects (A2 or above in French / German / Spanish; or N3 or above in Japanese; or Grade 3 or above in Korean; or Grade E or above in Urdu). (iii) For Integrated Science or Combined Science subject(s) taken in 2023 or before, a Level 3 or above will be considered as an unspecified elective subject where applicable.
