Science (Group A) program is tailor-made for students who are interested in physical sciences. Science (Group B) program is more suitable for those who are interested in natural sciences. Program Curriculum: Program Curriculum: The Science (Group B) program Science (Group B) program (JS5103) at HKUST School of Science is more suitable for students who are interested in natural sciences. Students decide on their major program after broad foundational training offered by each of the School’s academic units in Year 1. Our goal is to offer diverse, interdisciplinary, and inquiry-driven undergraduate education to students interested in science. Students can enjoy high flexibility in major and minor choices in accordance with their aspirations. The program aims at nurturing young scientists who will exert societal impact with their advanced scientific knowledge. Students will be equipped with the necessary skills to secure employment that demands scientific thinking, analysis and task execution. As such, our graduates are well positioned to enter diverse sectors such as research and development, education, manufacturing, logistics, and business and finance. The School has placed enormous efforts and resources into designing its laboratories and signature courses to nurture students’ competency in experimental methods and logical analysis, which are the two indispensable pillars of scientific methods. In addition to rigorous academic training, we place equal emphasis on students' personal development. A wide range of co-curricular activities and training are provided to enrich students' university experience further. These include but are not limited to overseas exchange, undergraduate research, internship, community services and engagement programs designed specifically for the School of Science students. Program Structure: Program Structure: The program flexibility caters for students with diverse academic and career aspirations, while ensuring the development of a solid foundation and adequate exposure to a range of science disciplines. Most science major programs offer multiple study tracks and options, and provide opportunities for double majors and minors. The study tracks and options enable students to sub-specialize in a major discipline, which will be useful for graduate studies in the future. The additional major and minor allow students to leverage on the synergy across academic disciplines. It is possible for students to take various combinations of majors, not only within the School but also across Schools. Students admitted to Science (Group B) programs can declare their major offered by the School of Science, as well as the Joint School Programs and the programs offered by the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies, upon completion of the first year of study. Remarks Remarks Students admitted to the Science (Group B) program of the School of Science can apply for transfer into the International Research Enrichment (IRE) program (JS5101) after their first year of study.
