Compare to BBA Economics program, ECOF requires fewer business core courses. Enjoying the synergy between economics and finance, students will be furnished with solid economic knowledge and essential quantitative skills to form an in-depth understanding of the modern economy and public policies. Students interested in economic research may enroll in the Honors Thesis Courses in their final year to further develop their research skills and take the opportunity to work closely with a faculty member on their own research project. Economics is a social science that studies people's decisions under constraints. It offers expertise in topics such as behavior of consumers and firms, efficiency and equity of markets, economic growth, business cycles, international trade and finance, taxation and public policies, etc. Important finance topics covered in the program include corporate finance, corporate valuation, investment analysis and portfolio management, derivative securities, financial markets and institutions, financial accounting, and international finance. This program is suitable for students who aspire to enter into the fields that require strong analytical and quantitative skills, such as investment banks, consulting, data analysis, economists. The sophisticated analytical training and quantitative research also prepare students to pursue further studies. Extended Major Extended Major ECOF students may apply for the extended major in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Creative Arts and Digital Humanities (CADH) or Sustainability (SUST) at the end of the 3rd term of study, if they satisfy the extended major requirement. Students completing the extended major will graduate with a title bearing both the traditional major subject they selected and the extended major. For details, please refer to " JS5300 Business & Management ". Remarks Remarks The Year 1 curricula of JS5331 ECOF and JS5300 B&M are identical. JS5331 allows students who have a special interest in BSc ECOF to directly enter the major. Those admitted into JS5300 may apply to enter ECOF or other business majors via the major selection exercise held at the end of the first three terms.
