The Programme aims to prepare students to enter the rapidly growing fields of asset management and private wealth management in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific, or in banking and finance generally. During the first two years, students complete introductory courses in accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, corporate finance, and investments and portfolio analysis. In subsequent years, students take more specified and industry related courses including equity valuation and investment in specific asset classes e.g. private equity / private credit, venture capital, hedge funds and digital assets, understanding of financial statements and doing financial analysis, lending and credit in private wealth and corporate bank, financial regulations and compliance, sustainability in investment and banking, institutional consulting, family office and family succession. The practical and career-oriented curriculum of the BFin(AMPB) programme provides our students with the necessary knowledge and skills for careers in asset management, private wealth management and banking & finance. Practical- oriented courses are taught by teachers with solid experience in the finance industry., including a final-year capstone course requiring students to apply their knowledge to real world situations by conducting analysis and managing a portfolio based on investment guidelines and risk policies of institutional or high net-worth clients. A new Minor in Sustainability in Business (“SIB”), a multidisciplinary curriculum integrating economics, finance, accounting, data analytics and social sciences to address business sustainability has been launched. AMPB students are free to declare this SIB minor, positioning them for roles in sustainable finance. BFin(AMPB) students will be given opportunities to apply for different enrichment activities specific to their studies, including overseas exchange study and industry- sponsored internships in either Year 2 or 3. Frequent networking activities with market practitioners are available, e.g. coffee chats and round table talks meeting seasoned industry practitioners in small groups, career seminars by professional bodies, and thematic visits to AMPB firms.
