BIM Process & Philosophy places particular emphasis on applying BIM management tools, such as Navisworks, to aid the design, procurement, and construction of a built asset.
Through a combination of lectures and practical sessions, you’ll learn how BIM management tools can be used to manage, support, and improve the quality of the construction process.
It's essential that building designers are informed when making design decisions regarding the form, layout, and features of a building and its fabric. This module will develop your ability to apply building physics theories and architectural engineering principles to optimise designs. You'll practise analysing and evaluating building designs in order to make predictions about thermal performance and related energy efficiency.
In addition, you'll develop knowledge and understanding of the methods and techniques involved in the measurement of as-built/in-use performance.
In this module, you'll analyse a range of design, technical and managerial challenges in relation to a complex construction project and develop appropriate solutions. Your assessment will include both an individual and a group component. In the group component, you'll collaborate and role-play as part of a construction company team. Your goal will be to bid for and win a design and build contract for a large building.

> I’m currently studying BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology part-time at Leeds Beckett whilst working in industry. The university has helped me with invaluable skills that have prepared me for this role, and my role with CIAT’s Aspiration Yorkshire. The construction industry is always looking for professionals from all areas, and companies often attend Leeds Beckett Careers Fairs and open days – these events create great opportunities for all involved.”
Jamie Greenwood Architectural technologist, DLA Architecture
> The tutors on the course were fantastic and a lot of the teaching was practical, as well as classroom based. The opportunities to go out on site visits were great in making the learning more interactive and connected to the reality of working in this area. My course played a big part in getting my first role in an architectural practice in my first year."
Chelsea Holgate Architectural Technologist, Citu
