Contextual offers
We apply a contextual admissions process for UK undergraduate applicants who have been in care, attend a low performing school, or live in an area where few students go to university.
Those who are eligible may receive a conditional offer with reduced entry requirements, typically up to two grades lower for A-levels and one grade (or eight tariff points) for BTEC or mixed qualifications.
Mixed qualifications
Typically the only scenario where we make conditional offers expressed as UCAS tariff points is when an applicant presents with mixed qualifications, most typically a combination of A-levels and a BTEC qualification.
In this instance, we may make a tariff point offer to present the applicant with more flexibility on equivalencies. In this case, please be aware that we may still ask for a specific score across certain qualifications and subjects. E.g. 'This offer is conditional on you achieving 128 tariff points. This must include A-level Mathematics at grade B.'
Subject exclusions
We do not accept General Studies and Critical Thinking. These subjects will not be included in any conditional offer we make.
Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
We welcome applications from students who are completing relevant EPQ Projects. Whilst we recognise the value of these projects in preparing students for independent learning at university, the EPQ is unlikely to form part of any conditional offer we make.
The EPQ will also not lower the specifics of any conditional offer we choose to make. We will consider the EPQ as part of the holistic assessment of the application and it could be used to form part of our final decision at Confirmation stage.
AS levels
We recognise that there will be differences of opportunity varying by school and college. As not all students will have the opportunity to sit AS Level exams, it is unlikely we will include AS Level grades in any offer we choose to make. Where students have completed an AS Level subject, we will consider this as part of the holistic assessment of the application and it could be used to form part of our final decision at Confirmation stage.

If you do not qualify for direct entry, you may wish to take a foundation programme first. These programmes are designed to prepare students for entry to City St George's undergraduate courses.

Extra-curricular activities
At The City Law School we offer a range of opportunities to grow your legal potential outside of the course.
Mooting is a key part of life at The City Law School and we believe it is one of the most effective ways for you to develop the competencies you need to be a successful lawyer. Mooting helps you to master important legal skills, such as research and analysis, whilst also gaining experience of public speaking and argument.
We offer opportunities to provide legal advice to real clients in a range of areas of law, organised by our popular Law in Real Life programme. We currently have a number of partnership programmes at local, national and international level.
We know the importance of work-based learning. We offer you a chance to shadow an employer, under our micro-placement scheme, to help you gain invaluable insights into the world of professional work and develop valuable work-ready skills.
You will be assigned a personal tutor when you start who will guide and advise you as to your career and learning options. Your personal tutor will also be able to assist with any welfare and wellbeing issues you might encounter during your time at The City Law School.
Assessment methods
Law students are assessed by a variety of methods. Those include written coursework, mooting, portfolios, multiple choice question tests, oral and written examinations, as well as project work and activities undertaken as part of a team.
We recognise the importance of prompt and helpful feedback to you. Academic staff highlight the learning outcomes at the start of each module, ensure that core skills are developed and refined as part of the course and provide students with effective feedback on individual and group assignments.

Student testimonials
One of the reasons why I have chosen City for my LLB is because it is located in the heart of London. Due to this, City is able to collaborate with many institutions, firms and other entities established in the centre of London.
Maria Sturzu
LLB student
I really enjoyed the time when I volunteered to help at City Employment Law Clinic. I was able to interview and triage clients and then was given the opportunity to sit in the meeting with the solicitor and the client to see how the solicitor was providing advice.
Anisa Khatun
LLB graduate
The City Law School has offered me many opportunities, one of which is the Micro-Placement programme. It allows students to experience working in the real world and gives them an opportunity to determine if a job is the path they wish to take.

London is my home city so it is where I am comfortable, yet attending City has given me the opportunity to get to know other parts of London that I was not so familiar with before attending.
