Are you passionate about using physics to develop sustainable energy solutions for the future?

Energy and how we use it is one of the biggest challenges facing our planet. This course will teach you how to apply physics to improve and maximise energy efficiency.

This course empowers you to address one of the most urgent global challenges in sustainable energy by combining advanced physics with practical, real-world application.

Throughout your course, you'll gain hands-on experience in:

classical and modern physics

quantum mechanics

renewable science

astronomical phenomena

These are highly sought-after skills within industry.

Increased employability skills

Physics at the University of Dundee has had a tremendous impact on the modern world. We pioneered the development of LCD screens in the 1970s and 80s. We also contributed to understanding how exoplanets form. Our research team also helped build optical diagnostic devices for CERN.

While studying Physics with Renewable Sciences BSc (Hons), you can apply for internships which will enhance your employability skills.

Passionate teaching

Our passion for physics drives us to deliver an engaging and inspiring learning experience. We make physics come alive through dynamic lectures, hands-on experiments, and real-world applications. Our teaching staff are not only experts in their fields but are also dedicated to making complex concepts accessible and exciting for you. The high staff-to-student ratio fosters a friendly learning environment. Our lecturers are approachable and supportive, ensuring you receive the personalised attention you need to succeed.

Student community

Our vibrant Physics Society plays a key role in creating a strong sense of community among students. They organise regular social events, including trips to:

Amsterdam

The Physics Society also hosts an annual ball. This active community allows you to connect with students from all year groups.
