Don’t meet the grades or have the relevant experience?
Don’t worry — we know that talent and potential don’t always fit into traditional qualifications. If you don’t meet the academic requirements, you may still be considered based on your experience, portfolio and demonstrated passion for music.
Our Admissions Team reviews every application holistically and may recommend our Foundation Year or an alternative entry route designed to help you progress onto the degree when you’re ready. Many of our most successful students have joined us through these pathways. We also accept T Levels and a wide range of comparable international qualifications. For full details, see our London Degree Entry Requirements page.
Fees & Funding
Course Fees
We know that funding options for your course can be confusing. We can assist you with this to make things a little easier. Being an undergraduate student involves two main expenses: tuition fees and living costs. You can either choose to pay for your degree programme privately or, alternatively, we have a range of courses which are eligible for Lifelong Learning entitlement (LLE) loans.

£9,000 per year
Academic Year 2027/28 Fees

To support students looking to develop their skills in radio, audio production and podcasting, students enrolling on the CertHE Radio, Audio and Podcasting course in AY 27/28 will automatically receive a £3,000 scholarship. Click here for more info.
Student Finance
Eligible students may be able to apply for a tuition fee loan to cover the full tuition fees. Eligible students may also be entitled to a maintenance loan to help cover living costs. The amount of maintenance you can apply for will depend on your circumstances. You can view additional information on our Fees & Funding page.
Most EU students are automatically eligible for our We Are Europe Scholarship, which means you’ll pay UK fees instead of international fees. See the Scholarships, Bursaries & Funds page for more information.

Courseoverview
The Radio, Audio & Podcasting CertHE is a practical, one-year launchpad for aspiring audio producers, radio presenters, podcast creators, and digital-first broadcasters. This course gives students the creative, technical and industry skills needed to build a career in today’s fast-moving audio landscape. From presenting and interviewing to podcast production, visualised content, branding and digital promotion, you’ll develop the confidence to create professional work for broadcast, on-demand and social platforms.
The curriculum prioritises current industry needs and is built around practical, hands-on learning using industry-standard equipment, software, and production techniques. Our lecturers bring real-world experience from across the whole industry. They hold a strong track record of helping students develop networks of industry contacts, and supporting them into diverse roles at major broadcasters and platforms including the BBC, Global, and Netflix, as well as media production companies worldwide.
Learning takes place in small classes, capped at 14 students. You will also be offered field trips to some of the country's leading broadcasters, contribute to pointblank Voices, our student led podcast, and build a professional portfolio that can be used to secure employment, internships, and freelance work.
To support students looking to develop their skills in radio, audio production and podcasting, students enrolling on the CertHE Radio, Audio and Podcasting course in AY 27/28 will automatically receive a £3,000 scholarship. Students in receipt of student finance will receive this as a cash award, while students paying privately will receive the award as a fee waiver applied to their course fees. Learn about how you will be taught and assessed on this course.
TEACHING & LEARNING
On our higher education programmes, you will engage in a variety of sessions (up to 16 students) and seminars. In addition to these, you will be expected to engage in independent study. Independent learning is about conducting your own research, taking control of your work, finding out what you need to know, and directing your own study. During this time, you can take advantage of the following resources:
Award-winning Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) with bespoke downloadable resources to support your lectures.
State-of-the-art facilities and private practice spaces across two buildings.
Tutorials with lecturers to help you focus on your assignments.
Studio Lab Time with support staff (up to five per week depending on availability) to help you with your technical set up and assignments.
Extra workshops with music industry professionals.
Open Mic Nights and pointblank Choir.
A degree course consists of academic levels 4, 5 and 6. Each level consists of 120 credits. Most modules are worth 20 credits and you are expected to study 10 hours per week per module (4 hours of lectures and 6 hours of independent learning).
ASSESSMENT
Assessment helps you gauge your progress, supports learning, and provides feedback. You will engage in the following types of assessment during this course:
Formative exercises - these are designed to provide feedback on your work and help you improve.
Summative assignments - these are designed to both assess your existing knowledge, and deepen your learning. They often simulate real industry scenarios, providing valuable experience with professional briefs.
To demonstrate your knowledge and skills, you will be asked to produce work in varying formats including podcasts, presentations, radio shows, vox pops, audio imaging, and written work.

Do I need to buy software & equipment to take the course?
Depending on your programme, certain hardware and software will be essential throughout your studies. To help with your independent learning and assessment work, you will need to have access to this equipment outside of the campus. However, if you are able to attend classes on campus, this equipment will be available to use either in class or by booking practice time. Note that you have access to our facilities 7 days a week during term time for the length of your course (excluding scheduled breaks). Please visit our Software and Hardware Requirements page which lists the hardware and software you are required to own for each programme. Where you may choose to study online (distance learning), this equipment will be essential to your studies and assignment work. If for any reason you cannot afford to purchase an essential item, you may be eligible for financial support via the Financial Assistance Fund. If you wish to buy equipment or software, pointblank students qualify for discounts from Apple Education, Ableton, Native Instruments, Serato, Pioneer DJ and other leading industry partners.
Do I need a music or music technology qualification to apply?
Studying a music or music technology qualification before applying for one of our Higher Education courses would be beneficial, but is not a prerequisite. If you are currently trying to decide which academic subjects to take at school or college (i.e. GCSE, BTECs or A-Levels etc.) we would therefore highly recommend choosing music or music technology. However, if these subjects are not available to you at your school or college, we will still be happy to consider your application. In this instance we would recommend that you undertake personal studies that will equip you with a similar level of musical knowledge, theory and literacy, in addition to your practical studies.
What is my weekly study schedule?
Each module requires your attendance at one class on campus which will be 3 or 4 hours long depending on the module. 3-hour classes will also have an additional 1-hour virtual seminar each week. You can also book up to two 30-minute virtual tutorials with your lecturer per module per term. In addition to your classes, seminars and tutorials, you are expected to schedule sufficient independent study and practice time each week. Most modules are worth 20 credits, and each one involves around 20 hours of learning per week. The school facilities are open 7 days a week during term time, allowing you to work on assignments and reinforce the knowledge and skills learned throughout the term.
Can I take this course and work at the same time?
This is a full-time course, but it is possible to work alongside your studies if you can be flexible. Most modules are worth 20 credits, and each module involves around 20 hours of learning per week, including classes, studio bookings, one-to-one tutorials, guided tasks and independent study. Most terms consist of two modules which involves 40 hours of learning per week.
We recommend working no more than 15 hours per week, and it’s important that your job can fit around your studies — this may mean working in the evenings or on weekends. Some students choose to do independent study in the evenings and work part-time during the day, but this requires strong time management and a flexible employer.
Your timetable will be confirmed about a week before the start of each term, so you’ll be able to plan your schedule accordingly.
