Entry Requirements
We’re looking for applicants who can demonstrate both a genuine passion for music and the industry, as well as the ability to successfully complete a Higher Education programme at pointblank.
Typical offers will be set from:
UCAS Tariff: 112 points
A Levels: BBC
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma: DMM
BTEC Diploma: D*D*
Access to HE Diploma: 15 Distinction + 15 Merit
GCSE English: Grade 4 / C
Don’t meet the grades or have the relevant experience?
Don’t worry — we know that talent and potential don’t always fit into traditional qualifications. If you don’t meet the academic requirements, you may still be considered based on your experience, portfolio and demonstrated passion for music.
Our Admissions Team reviews every application holistically and may recommend our Foundation Year or an alternative entry route designed to help you progress onto the degree when you’re ready. Many of our most successful students have joined us through these pathways. We also accept T Levels and a wide range of comparable international qualifications. For full details, see our London Degree Entry Requirements page.
Fees & Funding
Course Fees
We know that funding options for your course can be confusing. We can assist you with this to make things a little easier. Being an undergraduate student involves two main expenses: tuition fees and living costs. Students can either choose to pay for their degree programme privately or, alternatively, we have a range of courses which are eligible for Student Finance loans.
Academic Year 2026/27 Fees
Home (UK)
£9,790 per year
International (non-UK)
£15,750 per year
Academic Year 2027/28 Fees
£10,050 per year
£15,950 per year
Course fees listed are for the first year of study only and may be subject to annual increases in line with government announcements and institutional fee-setting arrangements.
Student Finance
Eligible students may be able to apply for a tuition fee loan to cover the full tuition fees. Eligible students may also be entitled to a maintenance loan to help cover living costs. The amount of maintenance you can apply for will depend on your circumstances. You can view additional information on our Fees & Funding page.
Most EU students are automatically eligible for our We Are Europe Scholarship, which means you’ll pay UK fees instead of international fees. See the Scholarships, Bursaries & Funds page for more information.
Accommodation
Moving to London is a big step, and we’re here to help make it easier. While we don’t offer on-campus housing, we work with trusted providers to help you find safe, comfortable student accommodation that fits your needs and budget. From private studios to shared flats and homestays, there are plenty of options - many fully furnished and equipped with high-speed internet and secure access.
Our Student Services team is here to support you with advice and guidance as you search for the right place. Visit our accommodation page to explore your options and feel free to contact us if you need help!

pointblank has its own unique teaching method which ensures you enjoy the best student experience possible.
TEACHING & LEARNING
Our courses are immersive and well-rounded academically, combining interactive learning with independent study.
pointblank students benefit from: award-winning digital resources; cutting edge facilities; maximum class sizes of only 16; your own fully equipped workstation for a hands on experience; personal tutorials with your lecturer; access to industry-led workshops and events; unlimited supervised private practice aka Studio Lab Time.
A degree course is made up of academic Levels 4, 5 and 6, with each level comprising 120 credits. One credit involves approximately 10 hours of study. Most modules are worth 20 credits, so each one consists of 20 hours of learning per week. This includes classes, tutorials, guided tasks and independent study. Not all of this time is formally timetabled — a significant portion is flexible and can be planned around your other commitments. See the schedule FAQ below for more detail.
ASSESSMENT
Through a blend of interesting and engaging assessments (formative and summative), we will support you and deepen your knowledge by asking you to produce work in varying formats including creative projects, compositions, performances, presentations, recordings and written work dependent on which course you are taking.

Do I need to buy software & equipment to take the course?
Depending on your programme, certain hardware and software will be essential throughout your studies. To help with your independent learning and assessment work, you will need to have access to this equipment outside of the campus. However, if you are able to attend classes on campus, this equipment will be available to use either in class or by booking practice time. Note that you have access to our facilities 7 days a week during term time for the length of your course (excluding scheduled breaks). Please visit our Software and Hardware Requirements page which lists the hardware and software you are required to own for each programme. Where you may choose to study online (distance learning), this equipment will be essential to your studies and assignment work. If for any reason you cannot afford to purchase an essential item, you may be eligible for financial support via the Financial Assistance Fund. If you wish to buy equipment or software, pointblank students qualify for discounts from Apple Education, Ableton, Native Instruments, Serato, Pioneer DJ and other leading industry partners.
Do I need a music or music technology qualification to apply?
Studying a music or music technology qualification before applying for one of our Higher Education courses would be beneficial, but is not a prerequisite. If you are currently trying to decide which academic subjects to take at school or college (i.e. GCSE, BTECs or A-Levels etc.) we would therefore highly recommend choosing music or music technology. However, if these subjects are not available to you at your school or college, we will still be happy to consider your application. In this instance we would recommend that you undertake personal studies that will equip you with a similar level of musical knowledge, theory and literacy, in addition to your practical studies.
What is my weekly study schedule?
Each module requires your attendance at one class on campus which will be 3 or 4 hours long depending on the module. 3-hour classes will also have an additional 1-hour virtual seminar each week. You can also book up to two 30-minute virtual tutorials with your lecturer per module per term. In addition to your classes, seminars and tutorials, you are expected to schedule sufficient independent study and practice time each week. Most modules are worth 20 credits, and each one involves around 20 hours of learning per week. The school facilities are open 7 days a week during term time, allowing you to work on assignments and reinforce the knowledge and skills learned throughout the term.
